GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH

Genealogical research at Wander Roots begins with records, but it doesn’t end there. Each project is built through careful examination of historical documents, thoughtful interpretation, and an understanding of the cultural and historical worlds your ancestors inhabited. Rather than producing lists of names and dates, this work seeks to reconstruct lives—placing individuals within families, communities, and moments in time. The result is research that feels human, grounded, and enduring, shaped into clear, tangible forms meant to be returned to, shared, and preserved.

ABOUT THE WORK

Standards, Pricing & Expectations

How Genealogical Research Is Conducted

All genealogical research is conducted using recognized professional standards, including:

  • Manual record analysis

  • Source citation and cross-referencing

  • Resolution of conflicting evidence

  • Reliance on original or derivative historical records

Results depend on record availability, accuracy, and preservation. Not all family lines can be traced equally, and no specific outcome can be guaranteed.

Why This Work Is Priced This Way

Genealogy is not a database search.

Each project involves original research, document analysis, historical interpretation, writing, and often design. A comprehensive family history may represent 100+ hours of work, conducted over several weeks or months.

Pricing reflects:

  • Research depth and geographic complexity

  • Level of narrative and design involved

  • Time required for verification and accuracy

  • Creation of permanent, archival-quality deliverables

This work is not intended to be fast.
It is intended to be right.

Important Notes

  • All projects are scope-limited by design

  • Scope is defined before work begins and does not expand without a new agreement

  • Timelines reflect active research time and may be affected by record availability

  • Budget-friendly packages intentionally limit scope and depth

  • Heritage Book projects are accepted on a limited basis each year

Who This is For

Wander Roots Genealogy is a good fit for individuals and families who:

  • Value verified research over speculation

  • Appreciate historical context and thoughtful storytelling

  • Understand that meaningful genealogy takes time

  • Want a lasting, well-documented record

  • Are curious about connecting ancestry to place and culture

Who This is Not For

Wander Roots Genealogy may not be the right fit if you:

  • Need results immediately

  • Are seeking the lowest-cost option

  • Expect all lines to be fully traceable regardless of records

  • Prefer automated genealogy platforms

  • Want speculative or unverified information included

There are many ways to explore family history. Wander Roots is designed for those who want it done carefully, accurately, and with intention.

Inquiries and Availability

All projects begin with a review of goals, scope, and availability.
Submitting an inquiry does not guarantee project acceptance.
